Interview and Off

Well, just the other day I attended a job fair at Starbucks.
I arrived at about 3:30 to get a coffee and hang until 4, when every thing was starting.
I didn't really have a clue what to expect BUT I was pretty calm about it all.
Then all these people started coming in and asking "where do we go for the job fair..", "what time does it start?", "what do I do..?" -- I began to be swept up into this whirlwind of people who were very anxious...
I then again had to center myself and the job fair began.

I went through the first interview, on to the second and then the third...
I believe it went really well. Praise the Lord!
Now all I am supposed to do is wait for a call back-- let's hope I get one!

Ah yes, Josh and I head out to see my parents on Monday morning-- for a week and a few days. It's going to be so nice! We haven't been into the states for a LONG time. I am really looking forward to it. It's about a 10 hour drive.. geesh BUT it is so worth it.
Pray for safe travels for us.

Deep Peace.

No go

The news came in yesterday-- they already hired another Superintendent.. huge bummer!
So now Josh and I are at an interesting point-- both just lost our jobs, not because of our work ethic but because of circumstance.. and now have to figure out how to make money to live where we live now. So many different decisions but we are open and wanting to listen to the voice of God.
Please pray that we believe wholeheartedly that God provides... no worries.. and that jobs would come through-- jobs that we are happy to do.

thought I would leave that quick update before I head to look into some jobs.

Deep Peace.

I wait

Still no word on this Superintendent thing-- argh.
Hopefully tomorrow it will all happen.
So it has been 2 full days of waiting for a call-- and nothing has happened yet. So cruel.

But I've had some good time with the Lord..
That's a plus.

Deep Peace.

Your Prayers

Ah yes, if you would like to fight along side me for today:

My boss has officially sold the building I am a Superintendent at-- SO this means, no more job for me-- BUT the possibility for a new one. It is quite possible that the new owners of the building could pass the Super job to me; God grant it.
Again, if you feel like fighting with me, could you stir up a prayer for the new owners and the job possibility going through.
Nice.

We aren't a body if we can rely on the other parts for support.

Deep Peace.

Jays

This past weekend we went to a Jay's game-- sorry Dad. I believe the sun and the company was the best part. Here are some pictures, hopefully they stay posted:

More posted later... i missed some good pics on here...

Deep peace.

Boredom leads to Niagara.

One day we were sitting around thinking of what there is to do in London, Ontario...we came to the conclusion that we have done a lot-- so I said, let's go to Niagara Falls-- we left at about 6:30 and got home around 3. Nice.

Here we all are-- minus Emily who is taking the picture.

We arrived and it was PACKED!! We forgot it was Canada Day or something like that-- we got to see some rad fireworks.

Beautiful Niagara at night with all the colors..

Yeah, so that was our trip-- I'd do it again in a heartbeat.
Oh yes, and did I mention I am a Permanent Resident of Canada FINALLY!
Thank the Lord.

Deep Peace.

Back to basics

Today the power went off in our apartment building. Bummer.
At first it was alright because the emergency lights came on and you could at least see in the hallways-- but then about an hour or so passed and those lights went off-- SO DARK. Our building has no windows within the hallways, as most apartments do not, and you had to feel your way through the halls.
Those residing in the building weren't too impressed but hey, not something that I could have fixed on my own.

So that pretty much turns off the TV, turns off the computer, turns off the music-- leaving you to figure out what to do with your time. It was actually kind of nice. Back to basics I suppose. It left me to go and hang out with Tash and Gabe for hours-- it was really nice. Where normally I would be keeping myself busy with work and all-- but this time I couldn't do that-- I had some quality time.

Turns out that this whole breaker thing behind our building crashed-- complete trash. So they brought over a truck to remove it and then a whole new system-- still we had to wait a few hours for it to be fixed up.
Then the lights came back on-- and yet again the business of life begins to creep back in. Maybe we should take time to fake an "electricity outage" within our homes-- let's call it an "aw shucks but oh well day"-- sort of how I felt today-- and get ourselves back to basics, remind ourselves of what really matters.

So what do you think? Maybe it should even be integrated into the Christian calendar to refocus ourselves, move away from technology..
I can see it now:

WHAT: "aw shucks BUT oh well" Day
WHEN: THE 16th OF EVERY MONTH
TIME: ALL DAY
WHO: THOSE WHO CLAIM TO LIVE IN THE WORLD BUT NOT OF IT...

I like this idea.
Deep Peace.

The weekend

Happy Mother's Day yesterday to you mother's out there! Your children appreciate you...

So Josh and I went into Toronto to surprise his Mom for Mother's Day. It was nice, even though it was just a few days... we went out to breakfast me, Josh, Bev, Joel, then for a nice walk through the Distillary, had a nice scrabble game in a coffee shop-- good times.

I'll post some pictures later, don't have my cord on my now.

Deep Peace.

Life..

Things have sure been busy for me lately-- I've been the Superintendent of the apartment building we live in for a month and a bit now, it isn't easy work. Yet I really enjoy meeting the people within the building and being able to serve where I am needed. People really begin to let you in on their stories..

Ah yes and the other day we woke up to a smashed windshield-- you get it fixed and move on.
Also just the very next day our next door neighbor had some things stolen from her home-- bummer!

Um, not too much else to share at the moment.
Life is good, the weather is good, God it good.

Deep Peace.

So yeah, this was basically just to pump up the idea of facebook..
Nothing too deep.

The Weekend

This weekend Josh and I went into Toronto for a few things:

1. To go to a Raptors game
2. To visit with family
3. To go to IKEA
4. To go to the Opera

Well, the basketball game ended up being a scam and we were escorted out the front door-- at least we got those free clacker things that they had out at the door: score.
It was great to visit with family as it always is. The cats enjoyed frolicking through an open house. Plus we had some delicious meals (thanks Bev!).
We did get to IKEA and bought a few new things for our new apartment-- what fun! I love that place, a shame it is so far away, I like walking through the kitchen and bedroom simulations.
Then the Opera-- yes it was in English and yes I loved it! Joel ended up being able to score us some free tickets and away we went. I've never been before but I really enjoyed it-- I would totally go again.

That was the busy weekend-- I liked it.

Deep Peace.

Promises to God

"Keep all the promises you make to him (God). It is better to say nothing than to promise something that you don't follow through on..."
"And don't defend yourself by telling the Temple messenger that the promise you made was a mistake. That would make God angry, and he might wipe out everything you have achieved."
-Ecc. 5: 4b-6

As I read these verses the other day I began to think about the Soldiers Covenant within The Salvation Army. I have heard the talk before saying-- "I was too young to know what I was doing..." "I was pressured into signing it..." and after reading these verses I know just what I think about that--- complete crap.

When you make a promise to God you make a promise to God and you keep that promise. A covenant is a serious promise-- the Soldiers Covenant is a serious promise to God that you need to keep... because you made it in the first place-- no mistakes, you made that promise. No "telling the Temple messenger that the promise you made was a mistake. That would make God angry, and he might wipe out everything you have achieved."
And we don't want that now do we--

Making a promise to God needs to be taken seriously-- not that he is a completely angry God-- he is fully of compassion and mercy.. BUT that doesn't mean you can go on sinning and ask forgiveness over and over.

Yeah, those are my thoughts. What are yours?

Deep Peace.

Tweet Tweet

The weather has been picking up around here. The birds are singing again.
It is really nice to wake up to the sun in my face once again. It makes me feel more alive-- in the winter it seems to be more dreary than not-- except around Christmas time.

Josh and I are gathering things here and there to fill in the space of the new apartment that we will be moving into. I am very excited. We will now have a room for our guests, and a door to our bedroom, yippee! It sounds strange, something as simple as a door excites me these days.
God has totally been providing for us. He likes to give us these gifts that we know we couldn't have without Him in our lives. He does random things here and there that make us stop and thank Him for his provision...

Soon I will be stepping into a new job. Thank God for that. We've been waiting for a long time for this.

So yeah, that's all I have for now..

Deep Peace.

Weekend Away

So this weekend was really nice-- minus the fact that I was shaking the flu. That was no fun at all! I'm still working on getting over it, still have a cough and stuffy nose...

Yeah, so, Josh and I went out to a friends cabin thing right off of Lake Huron. It was such a pretty sight-- from inside that is! It was FREEZING out. We went to look at the frozen over lake and stood there just long enough to take one picture and ran away. The wind was blowing like mad! But the sight was enough to take your breath away-- that and the crazy blistering wind.

Josh and I were both feeling a bit under the weather BUT that didn't stop us from our one year Anniversary. Still hard to believe it has been a year, it still feels so new.
We relaxed and went and had lunch at a little country diner, nice.
Oh yeah, and we also got the car stuck in some snow. That was interesting-- the both of us on Saturday morning pushing the car out of the snow-- and me just getting over the flu...
BUT we did it. We got the car out-- we got some muscles between the two of us, ha.

Now we are back to 430 Adelaide and back into the swing of things.
Oh yeah, and I called the government the other day and PRAISE THE LORD I passed the first stage of my Permanent Residency, yippee!! Good news...

Deep Peace.

A bit under the weather

Hey all...
Well woke up this morning to feeling like a train has hit me-- geesh. Pretty achy, bit of a fever, cough-- not nice at all. You're prayers would be much appreciated.

This weekend is our one year anniversary. I can't believe that it has already been a year, the time sure flew by. What a blessing marriage is... God knows what he is doing!
Josh and I are going to head out to a cabin for the weekend, a nice get-a-way right on Lake Huron. Should be wonderful, who knows maybe we'll be up early enough to catch the sunrise. I don't even know how early that is, ha!

Yeah, so, on another note, we had 14 people at our cell group last night. It is really a fun group. I enjoy having all of those people in our house, what joy! Plus we are all getting to know one another in a deeper way-- none of that surface relationship stuff.

That's all for now, I need to go lay down and rest some more.

Deep Peace.

New Look

Thanks to my good friend Matt, I have a bit of a new look to my blog-- sweet huh?
I figure, I didn't really like the whole generic blogger format, so why not see if I can spruce it up a bit... and right after I figure that I couldn't do it on my own Matt made it happen. Thanks Matt, it looks great!

Well, well, what has been happening lately. I don't have anything too profound to blog about BUT I do have some fun news--
Josh and I have been offered the Super's job here at our apartment building. We accepted-- should be really great. We are looking forward to being able to meet people here in the building and all that jazz. Really Josh has his full-time Manny job at the moment so I will be looking after most things..
Yeah, so that's it for now. Thought I would give a bit of an update.

Deep Peace.

Be a Catalyst

Here is something to put into practice:

"..strengthen those who have tired hands, and encourage those who have weak knees."
-Isaiah 35:3

My husband and I are always into encouraging each other-- we see how much we benefit for that in so many different ways. So, we go out and try to do the same with others-- encouraging where we can.
Encouragement can uplift one of your closest friends and can bridge the biggest gap between strangers.

Be a catalyst of encouragement--
Today.

Deep Peace.
